HP Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup with wired/wireless connection in Windows

Download the full feature software from the HP website or use the software disc and setup your printer for wired or wireless network connection.

There might be one of the following errors if the installer does not detect your printer after setting the connection type.

  • Printer not found
  • Devices not found
  • Unable to find the printer
During the HP printer network setup there may be some troubleshooting issues which can resolve your problems

     Step 1: Reset or restart your computer, HP Officejet printer and the router
  • Disconnect the power cord outlet from the router.


  • Close all the tabs running on your computer and shut down your computer.
  • Then turn off the HP Officejet 4650 printer.
  • After few minutes reconnect the power cord outlet to the printer and wait till the connected status light blinks to normal.
  • Then turn on the printer and computer.
  • Again install the HP driver and software.

     Step 2: Check the status between the printer and the network connection.

   Before the setup confirm that your printer is ready.
  • Wireless Network: On the printer, open the wireless network connection settings menu and check whether the wireless signal is turned on.
  • Wired Network: Check that cable is connected to the printer Ethernet port.
Note: The green light should be in steady status and the orange link should blink when the       cable is connected and make sure that your HP printer is not connected to a guest or host network.

  • Set the band to 2.4GHz if it is dual band router else the printer cannot connect to the network.
  • Check the network name and status of the connection in the notification bar.
  • If it is a different network then reconnect your network to complete the setup.
  • Move the computer and HP Officejet 4650 printer closer to the router if the signal is weak.
  • Slide the Airplane mode to off.
  • And again try installing the software and driver.
Step 3: Run the HP Print and scan doctor:
  • HP provides a free tool called HP Print and scan doctor to resolve the scanning and printing issues.
  • Download the HP print and scan doctor software to resolve all the troubleshooting issues.
  • After the installation on the welcome screen click start.
  • A new menu box appears on the screen with the printer list. If your printer is not listed then turn on the printer again and connect it.


  • Click the option my product is not listed and then select retry.
  • After that your printers displays and select it.
Step 4: Temporarily disable firewall software.
  • If the firewall software is installed in the computer that will helps you to block the threats that found on your computer.
  • Use the print and scan doctor to identity and temporarily disable firewall software on your computer.
  • Click network on the print and scan doctor window.
  • A drop down box appears in that select the option troubleshooting firewalls.
  • Click the firewall software to disable it.
  • And install the HP driver and software.
  • If the HP driver is successfully installed then consult the firewall software support to change the settings as security level, trusted zones. 
  • After changing the settings re-enable the firewall software.
  • If the HP driver is not installed then there is no issue in firewall software and re-enable it.


     Step 5: Uninstall and reinstall the HP drivers and software.
  • Disconnect the cable if your HP Officejet 4650 printer is connected to the USB cable.
  • Click programs and features in the search windows.
  • A list of installed programs will be displayed click your printer name and uninstall it.
  • Then follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process and restart your computer and reinstall the software from the official site.
